Tim Wight
Tim is 34 years old, is from Ogden and is married and has four kids (two girls, two boys). Tim is a Distribution Operations Leader at Kimberly Clark.
Here are a few facts about Tim when asked about running:
Years running:5 years (not including all my years of running to lose weight for wrestling).
Weekly mileage: 40-50
Favorite race distance or race: 15K (I wish there were more off them).
PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment:
5K 16:14 (Draper Days)
10K 33:29 (South Weber Days)
½ marathon 1:09:23 (HobbleCreek)
Marathon 2:32:57 (St George) - this is also my proudest accomplishment. I trained HARD throwing down a few 90 mile weeks. My goal was to break 2:30 and place in the top 10. I finished 10th.
Favorite training run: 12 miler from my house in North Ogden to the Eccles Dinosaur Park and back. It's exactly six miles to the T-Rex. Very hilly, challenging and usually in the face of a stiff canyon wind.
Why run - (motivation, inspiration): I view running as one of God's gifts to me. It has helped me face life's challenges physically, spiritually and emotionally. It is really a part of who I am PLUS I can eat whatever I want.
Goals: 1) Get back to my 2005 form after dealing with a few health issues 2) Run the BOSTON marathon in 2009. 3) Stay healthy and keep running.
Favorite music to run to: Anything hard with a fast cadence. "Josie" from Blink 182 is one of my all-time favorite running songs.
Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.):Mizuno WaveRiders are the best shoes I've tried. I'm really a "white trash" runner plus I'm pretty cheap. It's not uncommon to find me running in shorts in the winter.
Best advice you've been given as a runner: "You really should try biking, You're built more like a biker". That's always served as good motivation for me.
Best motivational quote: "Be brave, even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference."
Your role model: All good people
Favorite food: Milkshakes
Hobbies or interests other than running: Wrestling with my little boys. I'm a huge Brazilian Soccer fan.
Anything else the world might want to know about you: I had brain surgery last April and lost my left peripheral vision. So please, out of courtesy, pass me on my right side J
