Here are a few facts about Steve when we asked him about running:
Years running: 14
Weekly mileage: Nowadays I'm lucky if I get 15
Favorite race distance or race: Half marathon on road, 100k trail
PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment: 5k - 18:05, 10k - 36:50, ½ - 1:21, mara - 2:53. Proudest accomplishment: deciding to go ahead and finish the Wasatch 100 even though I got lost and probably added an extra 3 to 4 miles to that %$#&*^ ing race that I swore I'd never do again but hope to get in in 4 years when I'm 50.
Favorite training run: Ogden's trail network every chance I get.
Why run - (motivation, inspiration): I run to maintain (or perhaps try to achieve), sanity.
Goals: Come out of semi-retirement after the girls are a little older and get back into trail running and triathlons.
Favorite music to run to: The babbling streams, the chirping of birds and anything else Mother Nature chooses to whisper into my ears.
Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.): Montrail trail shoes and anything with Striders written on it.
Best advice you've been given as a runner: Don't try to do too much too fast. Lube for the long ones.
Best motivational quote: "Never underestimate how much assistance, how much satisfaction, how much comfort, how much soul and transcendence there might be in a well made taco and a cold bottle of beer." Tom Robbins Jitterbug Perfume It's not really a running quote, but still inspirational.
Your role model: Bernd Heinrich
Favorite food: Beer
Hobbies or interests other than running: Parenting, reading, writing, chess. Did I mention beer?
Anything else the world might want to know about you: I'm not a true blond.
