The Huntsville ½ Marathon & 5K is this Saturday, September 5th at 8:00am at the Huntsville Town Park. Registration is still available at Striders or online at www.stridersrunning.com If you're registered, packet pick-up will be at Striders on Friday, September 4th from 10am -- 7pm. You can also pick up your stuff the day of the race at 6:30am at the Huntsville Park. Same day registration will also be available at the park with no guarantee of a shirt -- we're not printing anymore, once they're gone that's it. This year's shirt is awesome if I do say so myself. The course is awesome; a great tune up run for either the Top of Utah or St. George Marathons and it's for a great cause; Weber State University Track and Cross Country. If you have questions please contact us at Striders. |

MATT CONNORS - SEPTEMBER RUNNER SPOTLIGHT WASATCH 100 - SEPTEMBER 11-12 |
 |
Hello, Training for the Wasatch 100 this year, I've spent a lot of time on the mountain tops with our September Runner Spotlight, Matt Connors. After every training run I tell myself I need to find fatter friends to run with because running with Matt is like chasing a deer through the forest; you see glimpses of him until there's a hill then he's gone. With the 26,000 feet of cumulative elevation gain along the course, Wasatch plays right into Matt's strengths. Here's a guy runs up Baer (Gutsman) Canyon with 30 pounds of rocks in his pack because the mountain isn't steep enough. He ran Wasatch in 32 hours two years ago, but now that he has a clue with how to run this race, he should do very well next week. His 2007 Wasatch finish was only his second race ever; he had never even run a marathon before. I promised I wouldn't put any pressure on him (publicly) but he has a very good chance of finishing under 24 hours. Matt's been a great friend to our little Striders family and a terrific supporter of our business. It's been really cool to watch him develop into one of the top ultra runners in the state; if only he could find a faster training partner. To read Matt's Runner Spotlight, please visit www.stridersrunning.com
The Wasatch 100 is scheduled to start at 5am on September 11th; runners have until 5pm on September 12th to finish. Here's a list of local friends and customers who are all ready to have a terrific day and a half on the mountain. They all have unique and inspiring stories, we wish them luck. You can track their progress at www.wasatch100.com
