Here are a few facts about Ron when we asked him about running:
Years running: 16 +
Weekly mileage: 35 - 50.
Favorite race distance or race: Anything from marathons to 50 miles.prefer trails over roads
PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment: Finishing the Lean Horse 100 Ultra in South Dakota with my brother Tom and his wife Jamie.
Favorite training run: From North Ogden Divide to the peak of Ben Lomond or from Wheelers Canyon up and around the Sardine Peak Trail by Snowbasin.
Why run - (motivation, inspiration): Going out with old friends and family, making new friends, great scenery, great stories while out on a run and great memories that seem to last a lifetime. Running helps you through the tough times.
Goals: To be able to run with family and friends for a long time.
Favorite music to run to: My Ipod has a mix of everything from blues to country to Reggie to old Rock & Roll. I listen to music a lot while I am running and later when I hear a certain song, it will take me back to a great time out running.
Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.): I ran in Nike's for years, but have converted over to Hokas. They feel like you're running on little pillows and they seem to be a conversation starter.
Brandon at Rooster's Brew Pub gave me some of their running shirts that work great for wicking and keeping you cool and comfortable. I have been asked if I am a spokesman for Rooster's and my answer is that "I will run for beer".Rooster's Honey Wheat.thanks Kim and Pete.
Best advice you've been given as a runner: Running is a mirror image of life.you are going to have some hard or bad times.you have to keep taking that next step if you ever want to get through it.it won't last forever.and enjoy the moment.
Best motivational quote: "Life is not a journey to the grave with the intension of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming:
"WOW!!! What a ride!!!"
Your role model: My brother Tom and his wife Jamie. They never quit.no matter how hard it gets.
Favorite food: Italian and Mexican. And a big, juicy hamburger at the end of a long run.
Hobbies or interests other than running: Riding my Harley, golfing, skiing, snowshoeing, my family and Margarita Fridays.
Anything else the world might want to know about you: Not really. I'm just an average guy with above average family and friends trying to get through life and smile when it's all done.
