RON AND MICHELLE LOGHRY

Michelle Loghry

Michelle is 38 years old and is married to Ron and has one son Connor who is 12 and one daughter Gentry who is 9.  Michelle and Ron also can't forget their running partners, Sadie (coonhound) and Marley (yellow lab and yes, he's named after the book and just as bad).  Michelle's hometown is Laramie, Wyoming.

Michelle is a Compliance Officer for Centennial Bank.

Here are a few facts about Michelle when asked about running:

Years running:  Eight

Weekly mileage:  20-30

Favorite race distance or race:  Half Marathon.  A distance to respect, but can still keep a fast pace.

PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment:  I would have to say my proudest running accomplishment is completing the marathon portion of an Ironman (Coeur d' Alene) without walking.  Okay, it may have looked like a shuffle, but it wasn't walking.

Favorite training run:  I love to run Bonneville Shoreline Trail above Ogden.  It's beautiful, it's dirt and has some great hills to climb.

Why run - (motivation, inspiration):  It clears my head and the endorphins can keep me "high" all day.  It's definitely a mood booster for me.  There's no other exercise (swim, bike, hike, yoga) that makes me feel as good as when I run.

Goals:  I'm trying to qualify for Boston this year in the Ogden Marathon.

Favorite music to run to:  I never run to music if I'm outside, but I will if I'm on the dreaded treadmill.   I like AC/DC for speed work on the treadmill.

Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.):  socks that don't give me blisters and my Garmin.

Best advice you've been given as a runner:  Stretch!

Best motivational quote:  "Sing like you don't need the money, love like you'll never get hurt, and dance like no one is watching."

Your role model:  My grandmother.  She was funny, athletic, and strong willed.

Favorite food:  Salmon and chocolate (not together)

Hobbies or interests other than running:  I love doing anything active with my kids and competing in triathlons.

Anything else the world might want to know about you:  I used to HATE running!  I thought runners were a bunch of wackoos, now I know it's true.

Ron Loghry

Ron is 41 years old and is married to Michelle and they have one son Connor who is 12 and one daughter Gentry who is 9.  Ron is the Associate Commissioner for the Big Sky Conference.  Ron is also a member of the GOAL Foundation, so that has curtailed his mability to enter "our" races somewhat.

Ron's hometown is Riverton, Wyoming.

Here are a few facts about Ron when asked about his running:

Years running: 16; I started the year Michelle and I were married because I was getting "Happy and Fat"! My first "official" run was around the block. and I was ready for it to be over! (I ran track in high school, but that doesn't count in my book because it wasn't voluntary!)

Weekly mileage: If training for a marathon, 50 to 60. For triathlons, I try for 20-30 with of course bike rides and swims worked in.

Favorite race distance or race: I like the marathon distance because of the mental aspect, and so far my favorite has to be Ogden. I love the course and knowing every foot of it really helps. I ran Boston last year and although the weather was terrible, it was fun to experience a "big" race. I never did get used to having so many fellow runners around me the entire race, and having people line the course cheering all the way was different too. Michelle and I also did the Disney World Half Ironman, which was a blast!

PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment: In 2006 I set goals to win my age group in the Winter Training Series and then run the Ogden Marathon well enough to qualify for Boston, and I did both!

Favorite training run: I like running on the trails above Ogden, but when the day calls for a long training run, I head up to Pineview and circle the lake.

Why run - (motivation, inspiration): I just really like the way it makes me feel, and you can do it anywhere. I have seen some beautiful parts of the country simply because I get out and run when I travel.

Goals: I'd love to do Boston again now that I've experienced it and know the course, but I'd also like to try some of the other big-city races (Chicago, San Fran, etc) just to experience them. I also want to do an Ironman and an ultra.

Favorite music to run to: My favorite music is nature and the cadence of my breathing and footfalls!

Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.): Right now it's Brooks Axiom and GTS 8, but I don't really have a favorite. That's just one of the reason's STRIDERS is our store - because John and Kristin work so hard to make sure you try everything! I have run in Mizuno, Asics - you name it, and have liked all of them. Of course, I don't head out the door without My Garmin 301!

Best advice you've been given as a runner: BUY GOOD SHOES!

Best motivational quote: "The greatest emotion in the world is winning. The second greatest emotion in the world is losing. The worst emotion in the world is not competing. feeling nothing."

Your role model: My Mom and Dad. They did (and do) so much for me that it can only be repaid by loving their grandchildren as much.

Favorite food: Popcorn

Hobbies or interests other than running: Reading, writing, cycling, mountain biking, skiing

Anything else the world might want to know about you: I talk too much
