October 17th is the Mountain View Trail ½ Marathon on Antelope Island. The race starts at 9am at the White Rock Bay camping area, the race ends at the Fielding Garr Ranch. After the race there will be food and good times. There will be a shuttle to take you back to White Rock, but family members can drive to the ranch and monitor the race from the road to the ranch. The course is flat, fast and very scenic. You'll be sure to run a PR, especially if you're being chased by a herd of buffalo. Registration is available at Striders for $45 until October 1st, then it goes up $10. Your entry fee includes a tech shirt, finishers prize and food. It's sure to be a great time. If you're interested in volunteering for this race please contact John at Striders.
October 24th is the 4th annual Ogden Valley 50 mile race. The race starts at 5am at Kent Smith Park in Mountain Green. You have 13 hours to complete the course; which runs up Trappers Loop, down Old Snowbasin Road, a 20 mile loop in Ogden Valley; then you run back up Old Snowbasin and down Trappers Loop to end back at the park. The race is supported with volunteers in vehicles and a check point at the base of Old Snowbasin Road (mile15/35) in the valley. Your $40 entry fee buys you 50 supported miles, an entry shirt, a tech finisher's shirt, a beer mug when you finish and all the potato and chili you can keep down at the finish line. The race is limited to 50 runners, so don't delay. For questions visit www.stridersrunning.com or call Striders.
