Last year in Davis County alone there were close to 300 kids who were victims of sexual abuse.  There are a variety of resources available to deal with the perpetrators of sexual abuse (counseling, therapy, jail) but there's not much out there to help the victims of these crimes.  The victims are kids; often forgot about or lost in the spider web of the juvenile justice system.  The NO MORE VICTIMS foundation is a charity organization set-up to help kids who have fallen victim to sexual abuse.  They help these kids when no one else can.  The money they raise pays for therapy, places victims in safe environments and provides hope and a new life to these kids who would otherwise have nothing. 

At STRIDERS, we think what they're doing at NO MORE VICTIMS is a pretty big deal and we wanted to help.  ALL the proceeds from the Memorial Day Classic event in Syracuse will directly benefit kids who are victims of sexual abuse.  Thanks for the help and your support. 

DATE:            Monday, May 28th, 2012

 

LOCATION:                  Syracuse Jensen Nature Park.  All races will start & end at Jensen Park on Bluff Rd. in Syracuse.

 

Schedule:                     6:45am ½ Marathon

                                    7:00am 5K

                                    7:30 Kids Mile

 

Entry Fee:             $35 ½ Marathon

                        $25 5K

                        $15 Kids Mile

                                   

*All entry fees increase by $10 if registering on race day*

                                    Entry fee includes technical shirt, prize drawing, overall & age-group awards, refreshments & aid stations. 

 

Age Groups:                 10& under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and older

 

AWARDS:                     Medals to all kids mile finishers. Awards to top 3 overall (male & female) in ½ marathon & 5K.  Medals to top 3 in each age group for both races (male & female).
