MADISON GARLOCK

Madison is 10 years old.  She is the oldest of three kids.  She has two younger brothers, Porter and Hayden.  She is in the 5th grade and lives in Kaysville.

Here are few facts about Madison:

Years running: 4

Weekly mileage: With soccer practice and running with my dad I probably get in 15 miles

Favorite race distance or race: Bairgutsman is my favorite race.  5k is my favorite distance.

PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment: I took 2nd place in all the women at the Children's Justice Center 5k with a 23 min 5k. I took 10th overall the women in the Bairgutsman in 2007. In the shark attack triathlon in 2007 I took  first in my age group that went up to 15 yrs and was the youngest in the adult race by 5 years.  I won my age group in the Bountiful triathlon in 2006 and took 3rd in 2005 at the Toole triathlon.  Two of my favorite race memories were winning all of the girls in the 2006 and 2007 Ironman kids race.

Favorite training run: Trail running fire break road in Farmington

Why run - (motivation, inspiration): I love to run

Goals: I want to do an Ironman when I am 18.  My birthday  is in October so I will do the Florida ironman in November of 2016!!!! Be fit!

Favorite music to run to: 80's Rock, High school musical, Hannah Montana.

Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.): anything from striders and my Ironman Kona running hat.

Best advice you've been given as a runner: Don't let anyone tell you that you are to young!

Best motivational quote: don't count on all the runners ahead of you and feel intimidated. Instead look back proudly at all those you're leading, especially those you can't see because they never reached the starting line.

Your role model: my mom and dad

Favorite food: Seafood and tons of candy

Hobbies or interests other than running: soccer, dance, tumbling, and triathlons

Anything else the world might want to know about you:  It would be fun to compete in the kids races and place higher, but, it feels so much better to beat the adults.
