2010 WINTER RACING CIRCUIT

Lindsey Olson Anderson

Lindsey is 21 and is married to Mark Anderson.  She's the oldest of five kids and has a twin sister.

Occupation:  Student

Hometown:  Morgan, Utah

Years running:  8-9

Weekly mileage:  65+

Favorite race distance or race:  Steeplechase, Cross Country 5K or 6K

PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment:  Qualifying for Nationals in Cross Country where I placed 66th after recovering from bronchitis.  6K PR is 20:50 which is the fastest 6K in WSU history.  5K PR is 17:11.  Qualifying for Nationals in the Steeplechase where I ran a PR of 10:20.

Favorite training run:  Any of the trails that run along the mountain by WSU.  I also enjoy doing intervals at Beus Pond.

Why run - (motivation, inspiration):  Well, right now the main reason I run is because I'm on the WSU Cross Country/Track teams, but even when I'm done at WSU I'll always run because I love the way I feel when I run.  And yes, it is hard most of the time to get out of bed in the morning to do a run, but nothing compares to the feelings that come after a run.  I just LOVE it and I've become a running addict.

Goals:  I've got a few . . . .    Qualify for Nationals in the 5000m on Feb. 10th in Seattle by running s sub-16:10. If my provisional qualifying time in the 3000m gets me into Nationals I want to run well there in the 3K & 5K.  I want to go to Nationals in all three seasons; cross country, indoor and outdoor - one down, two more to go.  I want to run a sub-10 minute Steeplechase during outdoor track and  become an All-American in the Steeplechase.  After school, I'll run the Chicago Marathon in October and qualify for the Olympic Trials (and hopefully make some money in the process).  I'm planning to graduate with a Math Teaching Bachelors Degree in May 2008, then in the near future start a family and continue my running and teaching careers from there.  I also want to continue coaching throughout my life.

Favorite music to run to:  I usually only listen to music when I cross-train and I try to keep it upbeat (danceable) music to keep me on a good pace.

Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.):  Even though we're sponsored by Adidas, I prefer Mizuno or Saucony shoes and Under Armor or Dri-fit apparel when possible, but a lot of the time I run in the t-shirts we get from WSU or various 5K's during the summer.

Best advice you've been given as a runner:  When you are fit you will race well.

Best motivational quote:  If you are afraid to fail you will never do the things you are capable of doing.    (If you're afraid of failing you will fail, if you look forward to success you will succeed.)

Your role model:  My husband Mark and my coach Paul Pilkington.

Favorite food:  I love pizza and Mexican food.

Hobbies or interests other than running:  Playing soccer and other sports, camping, backpacking, playing the piano, tutoring math students and reading.

Anything else the world might want to know about you:  Not that I can think of, but you're sure welcome to ask!
