Summer is here; finally! Well, maybe. I guess we could call it mid-spring at least. Either way, the weather is better; the sun is out and we're looking forward to some good running this season. All we have to do now is survive the melt-off. I hear Snowbasin reopened to skiing on the weekends; unbelievable.
SPOTLIGHT RUNNER We're very excited to introduce our June Spotlight Runner; William Sneddon. Bill took up running at age 41 and 30 years later he's still cranking out some nice miles. All winter long Bill trains by running up and down Old Snowbasin road. An average year for Bill consists of all five races in the Winter Racing Circuit, the Antelope Island Buffalo Run 25K, the Salt Lake, Ogden and St. George marathons and the BAIRGUTSMAN. I don't think there's a nicer more sincere man than Bill; he's always looking out for other people. He's been known to bring coffee and lights to volunteers during the dark and cold morning hours of packet pick-up (Kristin thanks him!). He's a very generous and charitable person too; we're all very fortunate to have him in our little running community. I can only imagine the many runners who have been inspired by Bill. He's a great ambassador for STRIDERS and an amazing friend. You can read about Bill at www.stridersrunning.com
Congratulations to all the runners who competed in the Ogden Marathon a few weeks ago. How about the weather we had that day huh? It was amazing. Can't wait to run it again next year; it's sure to sell out early again; so be sure to jump in quick when registration opens this fall - www.ogdenmarathon.com
MEMORIAL DAY The weather was brutal this Memorial Day; it rained all day leading up to the race and into the night. We woke up to a flooded course, more rain and even a hint of snow. Syracuse PD re-routed our course for us and we ended up having a great race. A big THANK You to the Police, we couldn't have done it without them. Over 300 die-hard runners and a couple hundred kids showed up to run; many even had to clear some snow to get to the race. It was an organized disaster but with all the support from friends, family and all the runners, we we're able to walk away with some money for the NO MORE VICTIMS foundation. Thank You so much to everybody who helped turn a potential bad day into a very memorable good day.
So, if you weren't able to make the race on Memorial Day but still want to support the No More Victims foundation, we have T-shirts for sale at Striders with the proceeds going to No More Victims.

BAIRGUTSMAN Registration for the BAIRGUTSMAN is open and filling up fast. The GUTSMAN is a classic, good ?ol boy trail race. Well, "trail" is probably not an accurate description unless you say "trail of blood" or "a tear left its trail on his cheek as he walked draggingly up the mountain." The GUTSMAN is a gut-check for any athlete; if you want to look tough then get the neck tattoo or wear the Tapout t-shirt from the Buckle, but if you want to BE tough then this is your event. Even the Spartans wouldn't know what to think of Crazy Bob.
