2010 WINTER RACING CIRCUIT

Haley Reeves

Haley is 19 years old and has lived in North Ogden her entire life.  There are 8 kids in her family; 3 boys and 5 girls.  She is the third youngest and now has 4 married siblings who have made her an aunt to 1 niece, 4 nephews and 2 more nieces on the way.

Occupation:  I work at Striders. the best place ever J

Years running:  I started running when I was really young but I didn't compete until 7th grade, so it has been about 8 years of competitive running in junior high, high school, and one year in college.

Weekly mileage:  Depending on the interval workouts for the week I usually run about 30-40 miles.

Favorite race distance or race:  My favorite races would have to be the 400 meter dash and the 800 meter run, fast and painful but over quick!

PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment:  My proudest moment before college was my junior year in high school at the state meet.  I ran the 400, 800, 1600, and the 4x400 and I took 1st in the 400 with a 56.34 PR, 1st in the 800 with a 2.16 PR, and 3rd in the 1600 with a 5:15, oh and my 4x400 team took 5th.  My most recent proud moment was at the Big Sky Conference meet in Bozeman Montana.  I ran in the 800 meter run and I took 3rd with a huge PR of 2:13.45 and made All-Conference Athlete for being in the top 3.  It was a big surprise because I had just gotten off of an injury and had only run in 5 other races before conference so it was a big accomplishment for me personally.  Weber's team also took 1st and that was icing on the cake J

Favorite training run:  My favorite run is going from Weber State to Great Harvest on 25th street mainly because it is mostly down hill and we get free bread and a ride back to the school!

Why run - (motivation, inspiration):  I run to prove to myself that I can.  I don't care who I am running against I concentrate on my own time and I try to bet myself.

Goals:  My main goal right now is to get back into the shape I was before my injury.  After I reach that I am going to run a 2:10 in the 800 meter run for outdoor and qualify for regional's.  I also plan on helping my team win the Outdoor Big Sky Conference meet making Weber the only team to have won cross country, indoor and outdoor!

Favorite music to run to:  I like to run to anything with a fast beat and I usually mix in a couple country songs to slow my pace for a little while so anything from Black-Eyed Peas to Faith Hill.

Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.):  My shoes are the best things ever! Mizuno Wave Riders ( they make you ten times faster! J )

Best advice you've been given as a runner:  You will pass out before you die, so don't stop.  -coach Joe Wilson

Best motivational quote:  "Pressure is shadow of great opportunity." Michael Johnson

Your role model:  My parents Brad and Lori.  They are amazing parents and they are always supportive of me through good and bad times!

Favorite food:  Mashed potatoes and gravy with fried chicken!  The best meal ever!!

Hobbies or interests other than running:  Other than running I really enjoy being outside with my family and friends.  I like going hiking and camping, wave running, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, and skiing.  I also enjoy playing other sports like volleyball, basketball, and football.  Just to give a few examples.

Anything else the world might want to know about you:  I am planning on going into radiology or physical therapy for my major.  I thought I was good at math until I got into math 1050 and realized I am not that smart.  I plan on being in school and running for at least 4 years and I am just living life up while I can! J
