The race starts at the Timbermine restaurant, runs along the Ogden River Parkway and ends on Grant Ave. and 25th Street -- sound familiar. To register you can go to www.winterfest.ogdencity.com and click on the Winterfest Event Registration. Cost to register the day of race is $20. Check-in begins at 9am in the Timbermine parking lot. The race begins at 10am. There's CASH involved; 1st place wins $100. If the boys beat Dr. Mickelsen and the girls beat "Crista," you'll be entered to win an Ipod shuffle. FEBRUARY SPOTLIGHT |
Owning and operating a running store can be a challenging task sometimes; throw in a dozen races and life can get real crazy. Kris and I have been really fortunate to have Camille Shultz on our team at Striders the last couple of years. She's impressed a lot of customers during her time here; if there was a doctor, physical therapist, trainer, or radio personality who needed help with shoes or running in general, Camille was able to step-up every time. She was a rock star at Striders to say the least. Camille worked her way through school while at Striders, graduating recently and landing a nice job as a Medical Assistant. She'll be missed; but we'll see her as she races her way through the Winter Racing Circuit. If you see her and have a question about your aching legs or feet, I'm confident she can help you out, but only if you can catch her. Camille is our February Runner Spotlight; you can read all about her at www.sridersrunning.com |

WINTER RACING CIRCUIT |
Its official, the Winter Racing Circuit has begun and we're off to a good start for 2010. Ben VanBeekum and Merrilee Blackham ran away with the 5K, literally. You can see results for the 5K at www.stridersrunning.com
It's going to get a little tougher with the WRC 10K on February 20th. If you're interested in running the 10K, you can register at Striders or at Active.com
If you're pre-registered for the 10K, packet pick-up will start on Wednesday, February 17th and continue through Friday, February 19th at Striders from 10am-7pm. If you can't make it to Striders by Friday, you can also pick-up your stuff on Saturday morning at the Dee Events Center beginning at 6:30am through 7:30am. We'll start the race at 8am sharp.
The 10K will have two aid stations; the first at mile 3 and then again and at mile 4.5 just before the climb up 36th Street. The 10K course link is available at www.stridersrunning.com
If you have any questions about the 10K race or about the WRC in general, please feel free to contact us at Striders. |

Here's a Valentine's Day joke to get you in the mood:
A man had seven children and was very proud of his achievement. He was so proud of himself that he started calling his wife, "Mother of Seven," in spite of her objections. One night they went to a party. The man decided that it was time to go home, and wanted to find out if his wife is ready to leave as well. He shouted at the top of his voice, "Shall we go home, Mother of Seven?"
His wife, irritated by her husband's lack of discretion shouted back, "Anytime you're ready, Father of Four!"
Happy Valentine's Day! Remember; flowers are great but running shoes are awesome!
