Brian Nelson

Brian is 41 and has one awesome super supportive wife Debbie and Two boys Cayden 11 and Gaven 8. both boys are great runners.( look out ).  Brian is from Kaysville UT and is the Territory Manager for US. Foodservice.

Here are some facts about Brian when we asked him about his running:

Years running: I stopped playing Ice hockey 8 years ago and started running it's much easier on my old body.

Weekly mileage: 15-20 in the off season and 25-35 during season.

Favorite race distance or race: Favorite race is Escape from Alcatraz triathlon. My favorite distance is the half Ironman.

PR's - (5K, 10K, ½, mara, Ultra) or proudest running accomplishment: Proudest running accomplishment was running a 3:36 marathon at Ironman Canada this past summer.

Favorite training run: Sunday morning long runs with friends and coffee after. Meet at Ground for Coffee at 7:00am

Why run - (motivation, inspiration):  I just love to compete win or lose. Nothing feels better then that good suffering.

Goals: I would love some day to run a sub 3:00 marathon and also get to Kona.

Favorite music to run to:  G.Love & Special Sauce

Favorite running gear - (shoes, apparel, etc.):  My Garmin forerunner 310xt

Best advice you've been given as a runner:  SPM Strides Per Minute Leg turnover is key for me.  Also in Triathlon a good friend and Pro Triathelete told me don't worry about the swim and the first half of the bike it all comes down to the Run he ?s is so right. If you can't run your done.

Best motivational quote:  You will miss 100% of every shot you never take.

Your role model: There are a lot of amazing local endurance athletes and they motivate me to train harder and I admire all of them.

Favorite food:  I am addicted to sugar.

Hobbies or interests other than running: I really enjoy coaching youth sports.
