We have been using RS/Series software for
semiconductor data analysis development for more than ten years. Below is the
detailed description of RS/Series software package. Most of the semiconductor
and pharmaceutical companies use either SAS or RS/Series software for data
analysis and Design of Experiment.
The whole RS/Series consists of many modules which
you can buy separately. The basic module is call RS/1, there are some
additional modules like RS/Explore (intelligent guided data analysis module),
RS/Discover (Design of Experiment module), RS/QCA II (Statistical Process
Control (SPC) module), RS/Decision (forward chaining knowledge base inference
engine module). RS/WEB server for integrating RS/1 system with Internet
computing.
The RS/Series software suite is a full-featured set
of open, integrated data analysis products that can be customized to meet your
unique requirements. The RS/Series family of software includes RS/1 software
for data management, analysis and graphics, and companion software
applications for advanced statistical analysis, design of experiments and
quality control. RS/1's RS/Discover tool features an interactive, easy-to-use
Windows graphical user interface to the most commonly used DOE designs. This
allows RS/Discover users to work in a modern visual environment that speeds
and simplifies the process of setting up designed experiments.
The RS/Series family of software includes: RS/1,
RS/Explore, RS/Discover, RS/QCA II, RS/Web Server, and RS/Client for Windows.
The newest features of the RS/Series software include
a new RS/1 COM Interface, and a new RS/1 Oracle? Interface, for faster data
access on PC platforms.
Brooks-PRI RS/Series family of products provide
integrated statistical and quality analysis solutions for manufacturing,
engineering and research applications.
RS/1 features data management, modeling, statistics,
curve fitting, graphics and report generating capabilities. These features are
complemented by the RPL Toolkit, a powerful programming environment for
developing customized applications.
RS/1 provides the functionality, flexibility and
extensibility you need to:
- Analyze data to solve problems.
- Develop customized solutions to meet your needs.
- Share your solutions across multiple computing
environments.
RS/1 also includes the RS/Web Server, an RPL
application that supports use of the RS/Series via the Web. The RS/Web Server
is not a browser itself, but makes use of Web browsers to deliver RS/Series
data and results to end users.
The RS/Web Server enables users who need RS/Series
results in order to do their jobs to access this information easily, without
actually using the RS/Series tools themselves. It allows for unprecedented
access to RS/Series data, analyses and reports, and promotes the use of the
RS/Series' proven analytical and statistical techniques across the
organization at a low cost per user.
The RS/Web Server is platform-independent. All users
can access the information through any standard Web browser under a common
interface across multiple computing platforms.
Analyze Data to Solve Problems
RS/1 software offers extensive statistical and
graphical capabilities that enable you to gain knowledge and understanding
from your data. It helps you derive and analyze essential information quickly
to solve problems. Both versatile and easy to use, RS/1 software features
menus, English-language commands and familiar tabular formats for storing,
displaying and analyzing data.
RS/1 provides you with a full range of graphical
capabilities--including scatterplots, histograms, three-dimensional displays
and completely customized graphs. On terminals and workstations running the X
Window System, you can create multiple graphical windows, making it faster and
easier to visualize and compare complex data. This gives you greater control
over your technical processes and provides you with all the information you
need to make decisions.
RS/1 for Windows, UNIX and VMS platforms includes a
new graphical user interface for RS/Discover on the Windows platform, and a
new graphical table editor for the RS/Client.
Graphical User Interface
For RS/Discover, a new graphical interface for
setting up designed experiments is available, for the Windows platform only.
The graphical user interface gives RS/Discover users the option to perform
designed experiments using a series of "wizard-like" dialogs, menus and
prompts that guide the user through the process to:
- Define the inputs and outputs of the process or
product.
- Select the model and a design that is suitable for
the model.
- Carry out the design, generate a worksheet and
enter response values.
- Analyze the data.
The new interface provides menus for each of these
steps. As you go from one step to another, the window changes to show options
for the new step, and the menu for that step becomes active.
The new interface allows novice, intermediate and
advanced DOE practitioners to quickly and easily perform designed experiments
to obtain the maximum information out of the minimal number of experimental
runs.
Graphical Table Editor for RS/Client
The graphical table editor for RS/Client provides an
extensive set of dialogs and pull-down Menus that give the user
point-and-click access to table editing and table display functions. These
include functions for data entry, data import/export, graphing the data, and
sorting and searching the data.
Updated Data Access Capabilities
RS/1 supports the latest release of the data access
server. The new data access server uses the latest releases of SequeLinkTM
technology from Merant to provide access to multiple databases on a number of
platforms, including IngresTM, InformixTM, ORACLETM, and SybaseTM databases.
The new releases support extended TCP/IP. RS/Series users can continue to use
their existing database interface options for ORACLE and Ingres. RS/1 supports
ORACLE 7 and ORACLE 8 as well as Open Ingres 2. Similarly, the new data access
server can run side-by-side with previous releases of the servers.
